After graduation, he was accepted into\nthe competitive joint MD-PhD degree program at Virginia Commonwealth University\nSchool of Medicine in Richmond, VA. His research, under the guidance of Dr.\nRichard Costanzo, focused on improving patients&#8217; recovery from traumatic\nanosmia (loss of smell). Following completion of the dual-degree program, he\ncompleted his training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the\nUniversity of Virginia Health System. During residency, he participated in\nseveral research projects and published multiple research articles. He was\nawarded the top resident research award at the 40th annual Fitz-Hugh Symposium.\nHe remains active in multiple organizations, including the Virginia Society of\nOtolaryngology and the American Academy of Otolaryngology. An advocate for his\npatients, he participates in health care policy at the federal and state\nlevels.
